Ethan and Charlotte Say the Pledge of Allegience

I started doing this with them last week, and yesterday afternoon I heard them say the entire thing accurately in their beds at naptime. Ethan said they even had their hands over their hearts. So I bribed them to do it again so I could show all of you. Sorry its wobbly- I was holding Caden.

Conversations With Ethan

Ethan""Mommy my finger's bleeding!"
Me:"Why?"
Ethan:"I don't know."
Me:"Do you want a bandaid?"
Ethan:"Um Hmm."
(go to get him a band-aid)
Ethan:"I wish I never got hurt."
Me:"Aw, me too."
Ethan:"So, look, here's what happened-is that a Transformers bandaid?"
Me:"Yep."
Ethan:"So when I was at Granny's, Andrew was flying his kite. And I bit it and took the peel off it 'cause I thought it would feel better, and it felt worse and worse. And then in bed I licked it and it turned to blood. So can you cut paper with me?"

Field Trip: Fire Station

We went to the Fire Station in Lee's Summit last week and it was really fun! I think I learned just as much, if not more than, the kids. The man who gave us the tour was awesome and spoke to the kids with respect and showed them everything there was to know- nothing was off limits because of their young age. I wish I would have got his name.
Charlotte was scared by the bay doors closing so he didn't turn on the sirens just for her. Just the lights, and Ethan got to turn them off which was totally the highlight for him. On the way home, I heard him laugh to himself. When I asked him what was so funny, he said," I was thinking about at the fire station I kept smiling and smiling and I couldn't stop!" I asked why and he said, "Because I was sooo happy!"

Here are some pictures in no particular order...

I know you've been wondering where we are. Due to some technical difficulties beyond my ability to explain, our internet was out of commission this week. Here is some of what we've been up to(in no particular order.) Tomorrow I will post in depth of our field trip to the Fire Station!
