Roaring River Part 2

As promised, here are some pictures from our trip last weekend:

The cabins were really nice. They had all the amenities of home.

Like doors.

.

And big cabinets.

You know- the crucial things that make you ache for home.

"Hey there handsome! How about a smooch?"

"No thanks, I don't like fake girls."

Friday night. I love Renee and JRs' expressions.

Shopping Saturday.

Jeremiah and I ate here on our honeymoon.

("Awwwww.")

"Bath Junkie."

Don't tell anyone, but on our honeymoon, Jeremiah went here and made me some yummy girly bath stuff. As in, picked out all the scents and colors and stuff. That's love right there, folks.

Now its "Fix me dinner, WOMAN!"

But that's another post.

Waiting for Queenie and Renee so us girls could do some shopping without the kids.

What a Cutie Pie. Those green things are flowers he picked for me.

"Is this hotdog all beef? Because I taste chicken!"

It took 437 tries to get this shot.

Enjoys talking with an accent, snuggling, and long walks in the woods.

Tragedy

Is her middle name;

Drama- her lot in life.

Maybe it's just a girl thing, but she can go from:

to:

in 0.3 seconds flat. I'm pretty sure it's a world record.
Maybe I should call Guinness and find out.
Now, Ethan is pretty consistent-

And this guy, well, he's just pretty much along for the ride.

But this-

This is just a big slobbery, whiny, mushy mess of emotional turmoil, usually placated only with processed snack foods.
But I love it.
I don't understand it.
But I love it.
Heaven help me.

Appley

Is that a word?
Here, I will use it in a sentence:
"The Autumn air smelled sweet and appley today."
I think that works.

Ethan, Caden, and I went with some friends from church to the Louisburg Cider Mill today.

Can you believe they get all these apples from their one and only apple tree?

Well don't. "Cause it's ain't true.

They get 3 semi trucks full of apples delivered every day.
Sweet, crisp, appley apples.
That word is growing on me...
They get cleaned, stemmed, pressed, squashed, and juiced.

Then the cider is poured into jugs and sealed.
BTW: Do you know what the difference is between apple juice and apple cider?
I didn't. So I asked.
Apple Juice: Apples, Sugar, Water
Apple Cider: Apples
Hmm.

And then came the good part.

Oh, the anticipation...

Apple Cider Donuts!
Cinnamony, Sugary, un-appley donuts! (You can't even taste the cider.)
They make so many of these a day, it made my head swim, and my tummy smile.
I wonder if they have any job openings?

'Punk'ins

Today we drove up to the Pumpkin Patch between Harrisonville and Pleasant Hill. It seems like this has been the only good day to go in the last couple of weeks, due to either the weather or our schedules. It is a beautiful day out...

Ethan loved the straw horse. After about 3 minutes though, he asked to get down.
"Not because I'm scared or anything, I just want down now."

Then Charlotte thought maybe she wanted up.

Nope. Never mind.

They had a lot more pumpkins than it looked like from the road.
"Big ones,small ones.
Some as big as your head."

They also had some other cool things.

Gourds.

Wheelbarrow.

Cat.

A Teepee and maze made from corn stalks.

Awwwww...

And this pumpkin.

So we got a few to take home.
Not these.
We will paint them and later, make some pumpkin pie or pumpkin muffins or pumpkin bars or something else yummy and pumpkiny.

Intruder

**Disclaimer**
If you are faint of heart, faint of stomach, or a member of PETA
please, I beg of you, leave this post at once. For your own mental and digestive well-being, I implore you to find another website immediately. For Instance: Smiling Babies or The Best Tasting Cakes In Utah! or perhaps USA Jump-Rope Competitions.
Or whatever.

I will pause so you can skedaddle...

................................................................

..................................................................

Ok. Now that the sissies are gone...

This week our cozy safe existence has been infiltrated by a pair of no-good dirty criminals bent on wreaking havoc on our food supply and my mental stability. I have long suspected their presence, and yesterday afternoon (and evening, respectively) my suspicions were confirmed.

I couldn't get a good look at the little so-and-so's. But I think this is an accurate depiction:

THHHWAAACK! "SQUUEEeee... "

Revenge is mine! Mwa haha ha!

In all fairness, I don't dislike all mice.

Perfectly fine.

A little creepy, but still ok.

But when they come into my house, I kind of lose a little bit of my salvation. I don't like the person they turn me into. So what else is there to do? Mice are not of God.
I had to have Jeremiah dispose of them, naturally. I could have had my brother do it when he was over last night, but then I had a mental freak-out of him chasing me around the house with it, or flinging it on me and that wouldn't have ended well for anyone. My kids don't need to grow up that fast.

Ahhhhhh...

That feels better.

We all went down to Roaring River State Park this weekend. It was chilly and a little rainy on Friday. We left earlier than should be allowed by law and got there in time for lunch.

That night, the boys did a little fishing and then we had chili and chicken enchilada soup, thanks to Liz and Renee, followed by a super fun night of games. CatchPhrase, 10 Questions, 10 Answers, I'm Going to a Deserted Island and Im taking...(Surely this one has a shorter title?).
And, since most of us don't watch tv anyway, the one in the room was hardly noticed, which was cool. It felt a little like the Waltons to me. Or The Clampetts, only in color. And with better hygiene.
On Saturday, the sun came out and dried up all the rain, and all the girls went to Eureka Springs, which was lovely and crowded and smelled wonderful, as it always does to me.
The trees were beautiful, and Liz was so wonderful to make sure we got to see them ALL. Ask her about it sometime :)
Since Josiah camped, instead of roughing it with the rest of us in the cabin, we went to his campsite Saturday night to roast hotdogs and marshmallows. What a great end to a perfect weekend. The stars were out, and we all held hands and sang Kumbaya.
Oh, just kidding.
I hope everyone else got to enjoy their weekend as much as we did. I will post pictures later on this week after I steal the good ones from everyone else's cameras.

A Little Behind...

I really need to empty out my memory card. I reallly don't know how I can use up all my available space in, like, a week.
So before I do that, here are some pictures from the last month or so that normally I probably wouldn't put up here. Just because they are cute, or funny, or both. And just because I can. Because I'm the boss of this blog.

"I just don't see it. Tell me again what's so great about this thing?"

"Here little boy- try some of my candy...MWAAHH HAHA!"

"Should I go for the apple slices or the french fries? I just don't know."

Attachment Parenting at its cutest.
