Boulder is a funny place. I like it alot- the shops, the kid friendly outdoor activities, the good food, and the beautiful mountains and huge...boulders(hmm-maybe that's where the city gets its
name :). It's definitely a difference from Kansas City.
Things I have seen alot of here:
Hiking Trails
Outdoor Musicians
Panhandlers
Hikers, Bikers, Runners
Eco-friendliness
Hippies
It's not somewhere I would probably want to live, but its a great place to visit. The outdoor shopping place we visited today and yesterday is really cool- Lots of big rocks for kids to play on, musicians and entertainers, plus really neat, unique shops.
I wish I could take these back with me for the kids.

This guy was amazing. Covered hat to spurs in gold paint. He stood so still, I didn't know he was alive. When I put a dollar in his bucket(for the picture), he bowed and tipped his hat.
Becky taught Caden how to make coffee.
I don't know what I'm going to do with this guy once we get home and he remembers it's not all about him. He can barely stand for me to go out of the room. I think I've created a monster.

It's been really really fun, but I'm ready to come home and see my babies and my sweetie.
See you tomorrow!

So Far:

The mountains are absolutely incredible. They look different everyday.

Just chillin'

Today we went to DinoRidge. We saw some dinosaur and plant fossils. It was really amazing to be able to see and touch something like that.

Caden has started sitting up on his own and pulling up to a standing position. He loves playing with the kitties and their toys. He has been a pretty good little boy. He likes all the carpet to crawl around on, and he's definitely getting spoiled with attention.

We're Here!

Oh! Close call!
Just kidding. Still on the ground.
Cranberry harvesting on the History channel. Very interesting actually.
Well, for me anyway.
Can you see the mountains?
It's fun waking up in a new place.
Real Pine Tree out the back door. No big deal.
Hey kid- can I have my toy back now?

D is for David and Daniel

* Since this was a short week for us, as I was getting ready to go to Colorado, we didn't do a whole lot of school. We did play outside a lot- even in the rain which was really fun. Here is fun link that my sister sent me about outside playtime for kids.
Ethan's Memory Verse for the Week:
"Wait for the Lord. Be strong and take heart, and wait for the Lord."
Psalm 27:14
We read the story of David and Goliath and I asked him to circle what David used against Goliath. When he circled everything, I asked why and he repeated the part about how David tried on all the armor and weapons but they were too big and heavy.
I was happy to hear that he was actually listening and entertained enough by the story to retain that info, so really, he was right in circling everything.
(Charlotte surprised me this week by telling me she knew her Bible verse too- and then actually saying it. I guess I underestimated how much she could pick up through repetition.)
Ethan liked putting the coat of armor, the spear, and the helmet on Goliath. And of course, gluing one of the "stones" to Goliath's forehead.
*Jeremiah pointed out later that a sling and a slingshot are two very different things. :)
Lions made from this activity
Other things we did:
Had 2 picnics.
Collected worms to go fishing with.
We watched March of the Penguins and I made a game for Ethan kind of like Treasure Hop, but with Penguins and icebergs. The cards have numbers or dots to count. A couple have "Go back/forward 2 spaces" and some land you in the "Danger Zone" where the shark stickers are.
Here Ethan is gloating that he's almost winning.
**This should have been C week, but since it was wet and snowy out, I decided to postpone learning about colors until we could go outside, since a lot of the activities are messy and will be better suited to the outdoors. And because I'm the teacher and I can do what I want. Stay tuned!

I'm Leavin on a Jet Plane...

On Thursday I will be going with my brother to see my sister in Colorado.

This is what I will be missing while I'm there. Luckily for me, I'm taking Caden so I will have someone to snuggle with.

I haven't flown since I was a teenager, and really- I'm up in the air about it.

Up in the air-it's how I feel about flying.

I'll just let that one marinate for a minute.

Not that I'm not excited. 5 days of waking up when I want to, time to actually fix my hair, watching chick flicks and eating ice cream without sharing. (This is actually on my To-Do List.)And sight- seeing. And shopping that might actually include trying things on. And reading a magazine or two. It's going to be divine.

But really...
I mean how can mint chocolate chip and romantic comedies compare to this?
