How We Do

You might be encouraged to think we haven't been doing any school since I haven't posted any school-related topics lately.

But the truth is, (apart from sickness) we've been doing so much school I haven't had time to post about it. Usually I fall into bed at night just after the kids do. Charlotte is doing great at phonics and learning to read simple 3 letter words and adding.

Ethan is reading like crazy, he can tell time and we've been learning about weather. This week we will start a unit on seeds and plants.
We've been studying famous works of art each week and drawing them. This week was "Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte." One of my favorites and one that I had to memorize in my high school art class.

During school time, Caden usually draws or does puzzles or cuts up paper. But today I had some worksheets for him- shapes and colors and patterns and things. He loved it. He kept saying "I love this school mom!" and wanting to do more. He actually cried when we were done with school for the day.

This guy has been sleeping in with the big kids and the transition was way easier than I thought it would be. I probably should have done it a long time ago. See his snaggle tooth?

Charlotte loves cooking. She is always asking if she can help me. Even if I just go into the kitchen for a drink of water- "Can I help you make something?"
She can make pita pizzas for lunch all by herself. She is good at following directions and she can crack eggs like a pro.

Cousin Baby Jack came to visit on Saturday. He and Judah must have called each other to coordinate their outfits. I love how their hair parts oppositely. You would have thought the older three had never seen a baby the way they fawned over Jack. They all got to feed him and give him a bottle. Jack likes water. I tried to give Judah some water in a bottle later and he thought it was a cool toy. He's never had a bottle and he didn't understand what to do with it.
